We have an exciting opportunity for a Programming Manager to join our Programming team here at BBC Worldwide Polska.

The role is responsible for implementing the overall editorial vision of all BBC brands within the region through the creation of detailed Programming plans and schedule.

The ideal candidate should display an understanding of research and thorough knowledge of the TV world within that region and to apply this knowledge to the programme schedule and introduce proper local insight into the editorial process.


Accountabilities  

•    To create the long term Programming plans for selected channels. This includes building a schedule template, mapping out tent-pole priorities and the detailed planning of all slots.

•    To take initiative for maximising ratings, share and reach performance targets whilst upholding the individual channel brand and strategic objectives across the portfolio.

•    Oversee inventory management, with the help of the Programming Assistant.
•    Create and input monthly grids to broadcast system and implement rebills communicating schedule highlights and/or changes to relevant departments
•    To work with the Director of Programming on content selection, aligning closely with the Global Acquisitions team to identify and prioritise titles that will meet objectives.
•    Budget tracking in close liaison with Director of Programming to ensure all spend delivers ROI and contributes to the delivery of performance targets

•    To work with the Campaign Planning team, under the lead of the Head of Media Planning, to ensure that there is a clear communication roadmap for our forward plans.

•    To ensure that audience research is effectively commissioned and utilised to properly inform programming decisions. To work closely with the Research team to highlight future scheduling opportunities and to take action when performance issues arise. Always monitor and assess  overnight rating data.

•    To monitor competitor movement and trends in the local market and ensure that schedules are planned both to counter these and to provide advantage.

•    To maintain a strong relationship with the Commercial teams in territory, understanding how seasonality and competition affect revenues and building strategies to maximise income from ad sales and sponsorship.

•    To ensure all content is scheduled in relevant day-parts and adheres to BBC editorial standards, all compliance regulations and any regionally specific guidelines.   To monitor the content of the schedule in relation to news events and other factors that may warrant post-listings changes.

•    To assist in the launch of new branded services within the region, in particular mapping our future scheduling plans.

Scope & Impact

Develops the strategy that is set by the Director Of Programming with the objective of hitting KPIs set for each channel brand.

Manages an assistant who translate agreed plans into a TX schedule.

Strategic Planning & Decision Making

Develops and executes grid layouts and programme trend reports, aimed at informing and shaping a strong schedule that delivers the required KPIs

Relationships

Regular (at least weekly) face-to-face/phone/email contact to provide/receive/exchange information with Director of Programming, Programming Assistants, Campaign Planning team.  

Occasional face-to-face/phone/email contact with SVP Programming and Acquisitions, commercial team, other Programming Managers.

Education

No Specific Requirements

Professional Experience

•    Proven record of high performance within a commercial multi-channel environment
•    A detailed knowledge and experience of competitive scheduling techniques
•    Good understanding of effective campaign strategy, creating cut through messages
•    A solid knowledge of local market programming and an ability to evaluate with a global view
•    Team management experience an advantage, but not essential
